GAHSC 2007

According to their website, "GAHSC was conceived as voluntary problem solving group with only five children service providers over 40 years ago. Since then, the GAHSC has evolved into 150+ program member association dedicated to supporting those who care for children who are at risk of abuse and neglect. GAHSC carries out its mission through advocacy, lobbying, education, training, technical assistance and providing opportunities for networking. It has become the voice of children and those who protect and care for them. Each day the GAHSC remains true to its stated goal of providing leadership and resources to the dedicated agencies and professionals serving our State's at-risk children and their families."

This year's annual conference was held at the Hyatt Regency in historic Savannah, Georgia on May 16-18, 2007. There were a number of great training sessions on communication, play therapy, ethics, cultural diversity, and supervision of staff. The opening keynote speaker, Bruce Kamradt, delivered an eloquent presentation on the wraparound services offered in his program, Wraparound Milwaukee. The closing keynote speaker was Georgia DFCS Director, Mary Dean Harvey.
