New Direction, Deeper Focus, Same Great Agency
Vision: Children and their support systems will be best served by competent, caring professionals who provide extensive services based on strength-based, family- focused, and community-based principles.
Welcome to the newest version of the Rainbow House website! This new look, easier navigation, and increase in information on the website is just one indication of the growth our agency has experienced in the past year.
It has been a year of transition for Rainbow House and we have emerged with a clearer vision of who we are, more commitment to the children and families of our community, and a deeper focus on the services we have always provided successfully.
Over the past year, we realized that Rainbow House is providing much more than “emergency shelter” for abused, neglected, and abandoned children. While the agency has always done an outstanding job of caring for children, it is evident that we need to do more to help these children move successfully into the next phase of their journey, whether the goal is placement with their biological parents, placement in the homes of relatives, placement in foster homes, independent living settings, or other treatment settings.
To facilitate this mission, we have begun to work more directly and effectively with our children’s families and support systems. We are providing family therapy, preplacement visits, aftercare planning, and in-home therapy and behavior management to help our children and families succeed in providing stable and loving placements following their stay at Rainbow House.
To ensure that these placements are successful, Rainbow House is conducting thorough assessments, providing individual, group, and family therapy, formulating and executing individualized treatment plans for each child, using incentives to increase adaptive target behaviors, and working more closely and collaboratively with other agencies such as the Department of Family and Children Services and the Department of Juvenile Justice. Research has demonstrated that such collaborations that rebuild, heal, and restore families result in shorter lengths of stay in residential programs as well as great stability upon discharge.
To reflect this new direction, we have revised our mission and vision statements and have identified a new, more descriptive name for our residential program: Rainbow House Child and
As always, we welcome your interest, your commitment, and your support of Rainbow House!
